Persuasive Writing

This week we started our new Literacy topic; persuasive writing. We have been thinking about whether or not children should wear a school uniform and we have looked at several different arguments that are either for or against wearing school uniform.
Your task this week is to decide if you agree or disagree with wearing school uniform and give at least two reasons for your decision. Write your opinions in the comment box below.

    I think we should keep school uniform because if someone has a nice top and lots of people like it, they might say they don' t like someone elses top and then he or she will feel sad and want to be that person. Also everyone is equal and they all belong to the same group.

      That's a great point, Simran! Some people can say really nasty things when they are jealous of what other people have. Wearing school uniform helps us to feel equal.

    i think having school uniform is a fine idea because if we get lost in a trip someone could find you.not wearing school uniform is fine to because when its cold we can where any close and if its worm we can where any close.

      Great idea, Madina. School uniform can be uncomfortable when it's very hot outside. Remember to use capital letters at the beginning of all your sentences.

    I think we should keep school uniform because people then know what school we are from. Also because if you wear your normal clothes, they could get dirty. It's good to wear school uniform because no one will fight about who's clothes are better. If we wear school uniform, we feel part of the school community.

      That's true, Ishani! Wearing school uniform does help us feel like we are part of the school community, and that is very important to everyone at Chatsworth. Do you feel proud when you are wearing your uniform?

    I am not sure on whether to keep school uniform or not. I like wearing school uniform because it makes you look smart and it unifies everybody. Also when we go on school trips it would represent our school. I like wearing my own clothes because it shows your unique style and reflects your personality.

    My opinion is divided, because wearing a school uniform unifies everyone.It also makes people stop fighting over clothes.

    Not wearing a uniform,is good, because you spend more money for no reason
    on school uniforms. I like style & like to be cool !!!! Even,wearing colourful & bright clothes are safe because they are super duper easy to spot.

      That's a great point, Omar. School uniforms can be very expensive. Parents already have to spend a lot of money on clothes for their children, so making them buy school uniforms makes them spend even more money. Do you think it would be better if school uniforms were provided for free?

    I agree with both because if you wear your own clothes people will think the children are standing for no reason and if you wear school uniform people know you go to that school.

      Wearing school uniform does show other people that we belong to our school. Why do you think it is important for people to know you belong to Chatsworth Primary School?

      Because it shows we are proud to wear are uniform where as the people who do not show rudeness to the people who worked very hard to make them.

    I think school uniform shouldn't be worn because it is expensive and children can show their own personality. If they wear their own clothes people will know what they like and parents already have to buy clothes for children to wear outside of school so it makes parents spend more money for no reason.

    We need to keep our school uniforms because if we don't we won't know who's in the school or not.We also need to keep our school uniform because we won't know who's who.we need our school uniforms because if we get lost our mums or dads can find us.Maybe safety is the main concern and they will be able to identify which school you come from.

    I think we should wear our uniform because first of all we look smart and sencond adults can see in what school we are from in case we get lost on school trip or somewhere else

    I think school uniforms should not be wearied because I dose not show who we want to be. also because It takes away are chance to show we are individual.

    The reason will be when you go out for a trip people will know the school your from and recognise you if your lost. Another reason is because you would have no competition when other kids are wearing school uniform. There will be no need to buy expensive clothes.

    I believe that you must wear school uniform! For example, if you are on a school trip you can get lost and never be found! The school uniform has the school badge on it, if you are found the person knows what school to contact. The second reason is that it looks smart and we should take pride in wearing it.

    I believe that wearing school uniform is a good idea because if you are going on a school trip and you are lost and a person sees you they mite look at your symbol they mite no where that school is. And the second reson is because you will look very smart and I realy like it.

    I think there are good points to both reasons. If we wear school uniforms it will mean we are all the equal and there is no disagreements about whose clothes are better or more expensive.
    If we didn't wear school uniform and picked our own clothes, you would be able to see more of our personalties and style by the clothes we wear.

    I think we should not wear the school uniform because its expensive to buy more than one uniform to wear through the year. the second reason is that wear the school uniform prevent us from showing our personality.

    I think we should not wear a school uniform because if someone was looking for you they would get confused as we are all wearing blue jumpers and grey bottoms.

    It costs more money to buy school uniforms. We can instead wear our ordinary clothes to school.

    The charity shops will not accept donated used school uniforms but they will accept ordinary clothes which would help a worthy cause.
