The Tudors were a Welsh-English family that ruled England and Wales from 1485 to 1603 - one of the most exciting periods of British history. They ruled for 118 years.

ReplyDelete1. The Tudors use before d to keep animals for years and kill them just before they had to be eaten so that the meat would be nice and so fresh.
ReplyDelete2. Poor people only ate vegetables and vegetable soup. The rich only drank wine not water because a the water was dirty.
3. Tudors thought that fruit was bad for you because of the acid so they turned it into fruit pie.
4. The rich people ate lots of meat and few vegetable but the poor people at lots of vegetables and not much meat because they could not afford it.
5. Coaches began to be developed in late Tudor Times.

They were called the Tudors because Henry VII was otherwise known as Henry Tudor. His son, Henry VIII was the most famous Tudor King.
All about Henry VII:.
Henry did not go to school. Teachers called tutors taught him and his older brother Arthur. Henry was very clever. He learned French, Latin and Greek. He was good at maths, poetry and music. He also loved to play games.
Henry had a fool to amuse him when he was bored with his books. The fool told jokes and did funny things, like a clown.
Henry also had a whipping boy. The whipping boy was a servant. If Henry was naughty, the tutor hit the whipping boy. No one dared hit the prince!
Henry VIII had 6 wives. He liked horse riding, jousting and archery and as a young man he was very fit and energetic. Henry liked to be outdoors, hunting and hawking. He liked wrestling and he played tennis.
Henry built castles, like the one at Deal, and palaces like Hampton Court.
He also liked music and holding feasts at his palaces including Hampton Court.
Henry built England's navy. Annoyed that the King of Scotland had the biggest ship, Henry built the Great Harry. This ship could carry 700 men.
Henry died in January 1547. His son Edward (aged 9) became King Edward VI.
After Edward’s death, his sister became Queen Mary I. After Queen Mary’s death, her sister Elizabeth, became Queen Elizabeth I. Elizabeth I didn’t marry and was queen by herself. She also didn’t have any children so when she died in 1603, the Tudor dynasty came to an end.
The Tudors were famous for lots of things including new religious ideas and exploring different countries. Christopher Columbus discovered America.

The Tudor period was in 1485-1603. This was when the Tudors ruled England.
2. The first Tudor monarch was King Henry VII who claimed the throne when he was forced to kill Richard III in the battle of bosworth field in 1485. He ruled till 1509.
3. The Tudors rose was created when king Henry VII brought an end to the wars of roses.
4. Following his fathers death Henry VIII became king of England in 1509 and he married 6 and beheaded two.
5. The Tudors would rub salt on the meat because they had no refrigerators or freezers so the salt preserves the meat.
6. People in the tudor times would only eat with hands,knifes and spoons.
7. There were few books in tudor schools so they used horn books that is a square price of wood with a handle and has writing on it.
8. If you were a child in a tudor school you had better behave, if a teacher saw you being silly you would get 50 hard strokes of cane on your bear back.
9. Board games such as backgammon ,chess and card games.
10. Tudor houses are very distinctive and you can still see them today.
